About ARC-EN-CIEL (DEDUNU)
ARC-EN-CIEL (DEDUNU) have been providing services to underprivileged newborns and children for the past 34 years as an authorized charity, with a particular focus on single moms and parents with drug addiction who reside in and around Sri Lanka’s capital city. ARC-EN-CIEL (DEDUNU) was founded in1990s. It is a well-established organization that has been listed as a guarantee limited since 1991. It prioritizes continuity, quality, and good management over expansion. We are providing care for about 35 children, ranging in age from three weeks to three and a half years. Our organization is registered as an authorized charity and has obtained the necessary licenses and certifications from the relevant Sri Lankan government authorities.
Many of our parents are struggling mightily to find even one square meal a day to sustain themselves or their child, especially the impoverished. According to statistics, Sri Lanka’s malnutrition rate has risen to as high as 60%. A large number of the children we feed are without any fixed abode. Most of the fathers being addicted to drugs and the victims are the mother and the child. Many of them are low educated laborers who earn less than Rs.1000/- a day as housemaids or in insecure small businesses in our area. A large number of people reside in monthly rented small abodes that lack sufficient shelter and even basic amenities. Children in these communities suffer from inadequate food, inadequate security, inadequate education, and other essential sanitary conditions in both their inner and exterior environments. A typical family of four to five people makes insufficient money each day to support the family, and they are always in debt and in want.
The ARC-EN-CIEL (DEDUNU) daycare provides children with a happy, healthy atmosphere that is conducive to their development. It also provides them with enough nutritious meals, comforting surroundings, appropriate attire, toys, books, and medical supplies. We offer this service five days a week, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., whole year around. Every child is given the opportunity to read, dance, sing, and play, all while receiving appropriate early childhood development from the highly skilled and knowledgeable personnel.
Over the course of ARC-EN-CIEL (DEDUNU)’s 34 years of operation, we have assisted over 2000 families, enabling them to make progress toward a respectable level. It gives us great pleasure to report that, despite coming from unstable, drug-addicted, and ignorant homes, many of the children for whom we had cared are now highly educated adults who occupy influential positions in the country. We get an inner joy knowing that we were the ones to support their early development and provide the groundwork for them to become a contributing member of the community.
We have achieved the status of being stable as at now, solely because of the immense support we have received from patrons within and outside Sri Lanka. Any donation that you offer us will undoubtedly enable us to assist many numbers of more deserving people in our area.
